Loveland, Colorado artist Sandi Nelsen has always had a passion for creating in 3-dimension. After graduating form the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, she entered the clothing business. first as a professional pattern maker then as a clothing designer for Levi Strauss & Company in San Francisco. Upon moving to Colorado, she discovered the art of mosaic.
"I love making mosaics because i have always been fascinated by color, texture and shape. Especially, how they interact and influence each other. Mosaic is an art form as much defined by the materials as the subject matter. The interplay of materials as they are laid, the colors, the grout lines; all work together to define the piece."
Sandi creates one-of-a-kind hand cut mosaics for gallery, home, retail, restaurant, and civic venues. Her work is exhibited in several states in both private and public collections, museums and galleries.
